چکیده

In this study, we investigated cell physiological and biochemical responses to copper (Cu) accumulation in the marine diatom Phaeodactylum tricornutum under different nitrogen (N) phosphorus (P) conditions. Cells with sufficient N P (+N+P) showed highest total Cu concentrations displayed a higher metal-tolerance ability. +N+P treatments, 36.5% of dissolved was adsorbed on frustules (cell walls), 54.9% occluded organelles, 8.6% soluble fraction. comparison, cells and/or shortages (+N−P, −N+P, −N−P) 10.8–13.1% onto their walls, 74.5–80% 9.2–12.4% The 2+ influx wall faster due metal ligands walls up-regulated metal-related transporters. A significant increase protein content occurred shortages, which accompanied by inhibition antioxidative enzymatic system membrane damage. Our findings indicate that play an important role both adsorption surface) uptake (intracellular), they provide multifaceted evidence acquisition mechanism P. macronutrient

Growth of and omega-3 fatty acid production by Phaeodactylum tricornutum under different culture conditions.

Detailed studies were carried out on the effects of nitrogen source, phosphate, sodium chloride, growth factors, precursors, CO2, temperature, initial pH, and inoculum size on biomass and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) production by Phaeodactylum tricornutum. The EPA content of total fatty acids increased with increasing concentrations of nitrate and urea. Sodium chloride was not required for grow...

Copper toxicity on the marine microalga Phaeodactylum tricornutum: effects on photosynthesis and related parameters

Essential heavy metals, as copper, can be toxic for microalgae at high concentrations. Copper affected growth and other parameters closely related to photosynthesis of the marine diatom Phaeodactylum tricornutum. A copper concentration of 0.10 mg l provoked about 50% growth reduction and 1 mg linhibited the growth. Copper also interfered with photosynthesis and ATP production. A copper concentr...

Dynamics of triacylglycerol and EPA production in Phaeodactylum tricornutum under nitrogen starvation at different light intensities

Lipid production in microalgae is highly dependent on the applied light intensity. However, for the EPA producing model-diatom Phaeodactylum tricornutum, clear consensus on the impact of incident light intensity on lipid productivity is still lacking. This study quantifies the impact of different incident light intensities on the biomass, TAG and EPA yield on light in nitrogen starved batch cul...

Genome properties of the diatom Phaeodactylum tricornutum.

Diatoms are a ubiquitous class of microalgae of extreme importance for global primary productivity and for the biogeochemical cycling of minerals such as silica. However, very little is known about diatom cell biology or about their genome structure. For diatom researchers to take advantage of genomics and post-genomics technologies, it is necessary to establish a model diatom species. Phaeodac...

Bioaccumulation and toxicity of copper in outdoor freshwater microcosms.

This study characterizes the effects of copper (Cu) on Florida apple snails (Pomacea paludosa) and mosquito fish (Gambusia affinis) using a replicated outdoor microcosm design. Soils used in this study were collected from two Cu-enriched citrus agricultural sites in South Florida (Agler property (AGLR) in St. Lucie County and Sunrise Boys property (SRB) in Palm Beach County) and a reference sit...
